Research, Design and Production for Control and Automation Equipment (IPA)

 SC IPA SA - Research Development, Engineering and Manufacturing for Automation Equipment and Systems is a company for research, design and manufacturing of equipment in the field of automation. Now, IPA is a private company with the main activity research and development (SACD), with separate accounting for R&D, and all profits from these activities are reinvested in research, dissemination and education.IPA has quality system according to SR-EN-ISO 9001:2001, 14001, OHSAS 18001, IQNet.IPA Cluj Subsidiary activities aimed at: Industrial Automation and Control, ICT, environment surveillance, e-health, e-services for citizens, security systems, being specialized in application development of SCADA systems for industry and environment, in training operating personnel, and in the dissemination of scientific and technological knowledge.IPA has been involved in European research programs (FP6, FP7, TTQM-PHARE, EUREKA, Leonardo da Vinci, etc.), and in national research programs (PNCDI, CEEX, PN II).IPA, by the Cluj-Napoca Subsidiary and by the Technology Transfer Centre from Cluj has developed SCADA systems for dispatching power stations on the rivers Somesand Cris, and a SCADA system for a water distribution company in three cities: Dej, Gherla, Huedin from Somes River area.IPA Cluj-Napoca Subsidiary had good cooperation in R&D projects with the "Babeş-Bolyai" University of Cluj-Napoca, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Transylvania University of Brasov, "Iuliu Haţieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Cluj-Napoca, and with other national research institutes.


Main tasks in the project. IPA’s main goal is to elaborate and implement a SCADA system, based on heterogeneous sensors supporting predictive models and a decision support system to asses and mitigate the impact on population, utilities and infrastructures in case of flooding, extreme rainfall or drought. Furthermore, IPA will bring expertise in the Comprehensive Decision Support System (CDSS) development, and assembling of Advanced Control Technology (ACT). 


Previous experience relevant to the tasks in the project is proved by previous projects: e.g. Distributed intelligent system for the management of the technological resources of the Hydro Power Plants – HPPs (cascade) – MAREA (contract number 11004/ 2009 - PN2); Optimizing the Energetic Potential of a Cascaded Dam Hydropower Installation – OPTISO; System for Rivers Water Quality Monitoring Modeling and Simulation of Pollutants Propagation SEPOL.
